Portugal was distinguished as the best tourist destination in the world for the third consecutive year by the World Travel Awards.
This distinction was awarded for the first time to Portugal in 2017, renewed in 2018, and again in 2019. In June, the country had already been re-elected the best Tourist Destination in Europe, also for the third consecutive year.

Lisbon was re-elected Best Destination City Break, for the fourth consecutive year, at the 27th edition of the World Travel Awards. But it was not the only region in the country to triumph in the Oscars of tourism. The island of Madeira also won in the category of "Best Island Destination" and the Algarve as "Best Beach Destination".

In the 26th edition of those that are considered the Oscars of Tourism, Lisbon also won the prizes of "Best Cruise Destination" and "Best Cruise Port" in Europe.

Forbes has chosen the Algarve (Southern Portugal, Faro district) as the best destination for foreign pensioners to live post-pandemic, claiming that the region has the ideal conditions for anyone to achieve happiness.
